چکیده

Siderophores are relatively low-molecular-weight compounds that typically have a very high affinity constant (1025-1050)1) for iron (Fe3+), which is an essential element for most microorganisms owing to its importance in a variety of biochemical reactions. The role of siderophores is to scavenge extracellular iron from the environment and transport it into microbial cells. Hundreds of siderophores have been isolated from terrestrial, especially pathogenic, microorganisms, and their biosyntheses and ironsequestering systems have been enthusiastically studied.2-4) In spite of the high abundance of iron in the earth's crust, the dissolved iron concentration is particularly low

Pseudoalteromone B: A Novel 15C Compound from a Marine Bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. CGH2XX

A novel 15C compound, pseudoalteromone B (1), possessing a novel carbon skeleton, was obtained from a marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. CGH2XX. This bacterium was originally isolated from a cultured-type octocoral Lobophytum crassum, that was growing in cultivating tanks equipped with a flow-through sea water system. The structure of 1 was established by spectroscopic methods. Pseudoaltero...

Algicidal effects of a novel marine pseudoalteromonas isolate (class Proteobacteria, gamma subdivision) on harmful algal bloom species of the genera Chattonella, Gymnodinium, and Heterosigma.

During a bacterial survey of the Huon Estuary in southern Tasmania, Australia, we isolated a yellow-pigmented Pseudoalteromonas strain (class Proteobacteria, gamma subdivision), designated strain Y, that had potent algicidal effects on harmful algal bloom species. This organism was identified by 16S rRNA sequencing as a strain with close affinities to Pseudoalteromonas peptidysin. This bacteriu...

Draft Genome Sequence of Violacein-Producing Marine Bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. 520P1

Here, we report a draft 5.25-Mb genome sequence of Pseudoalteromonas sp. 520P1, a marine violacein-producing bacterium isolated from the Pacific coast of Japan. Genome annotation by BLAST searches revealed the presence of one acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) synthase (luxI) and five AHL receptor protein (luxR) gene homologs.

Draft Genome Sequence of the Polysaccharide-Degrading Marine Bacterium Pseudoalteromonas sp. Strain A601

Pseudoalteromonas sp. strain A601 is a marine bacterium with excellent polysaccharide-degrading capabilities. Here, we present a high-quality draft genome sequence of strain A601 with a size of approximately 4.89 Mb and a mean G+C content of 40.0%. Various putative polysaccharide-degrading genes were found in the draft genome.

Pseudoalteromonas tunicata sp. nov., a bacterium that produces antifouling agents.

A dark-green-pigmented marine bacterium, previously designated D2, which produces components that are inhibitory to common marine fouling organisms has been characterized and assessed for taxonomic assignment. Based on direct double-stranded sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene, D2T was found to show the highest similarity (93%) to members of the genus Pseudoalteromonas. The G + C content of D2T is ...
